Expatriate Bangladeshi 2000Linking Individuals, Regions, Ideas, and Actions |
|
As a part of building our human resource base to help in the development of Bangladesh, EB2000 wishes to compile directories of expatriates based on their expertise in a specific area. At this point, we are in the process of compiling a directory of expatriates who are experts, professionals, entrepreneurs, academicians and enthusiasts of the information technology industry. In due course, we wish to construct similar directories in other areas that are elemental to the development of Bangladesh. Similar to our efforts in building human resources, EB2000 also wishes to develop a comprehensive repository of information in different areas of development. Again, our initial focus is in the information technology area. We are primarily interested in collecting information in the following six categories: News & Events; Conferences & Seminars; Data & Reports; People & Networks; Projects & Policies; and Articles & Analysis. We envision that the collection and the retrieval processes will eventually be automated through an appropriate knowledge management software. A project is an EB2000 effort that involves bringing together of individuals, resources and ideas towards producing tangible outputs targeted to one or more areas of development. These projects are generally developed through cooperation and consultation between the resident and the non-resident Bangladeshis and can take the form of a round table discussion, a seminar, an empirical research, a program, a joint venture, or a new organization. Most people don't have time to read long reports, unless they are particularly interested in a subject.
EB2000 considered bringing out a series of short-notes (4-6 pages at most) as a vehicle for disseminating
knowledge, information and opinions. The content varies, both in the subject covered and the manner in which it is covered. These
short notes generally take the form of opinion pieces, case studies, "how to" pieces etc.
Many of these notes have also been published in Bangladeshi newspapers. |
