EB2000 ProjectsWhen the proposal of building the EB2000 network was first introduced, many expatriates came forward with their own ideas about how the expatriates could help the development process of Bangladesh. We tabulated these ideas with the hope to preserve them in anticipation of the right moment when the expertise and resources to implement them would become available. As could be seen from the listing of the ongoing projects, some of these ideas, along with some newer ones, are slowly but surely coming into fruition. In essence, the projects represent the output side of EB2000. What separates these outputs from outputs of most organizations is the process through which they are developed. First, the projects address, either directly or indirectly, a developmental problem in Bangladesh. Second, their formulation and execution are accomplished through transparent and interactive dialogues between the resident and non-resident Bangladeshis. Third, each project has the benefit of one or more champions dedicated to its cause. Fourth, where appropriate, the projects have a short-term and long-term vision associated. |
